Did you know that 93 percent of paints and paintbrushes are made by prison inmates being paid cents per hour? I had no idea, personally, because where I was incarcerated the only jobs inmates did were things that were necessary for continuing to run the facility. They cleaned, made food, and did maintenance work — and the only manufacturing that occurred was the manufacturing of items for prisoners — lockers, clothes, shoes, etc. Here is a fascinating infographic from blog.arrestrecords.com that details a number of shocking prison-related statistics.
